Organized by RINA, member of the ReFreeDrive Consortium, the 9th International Conference on Magnetism and Metallurgy WMM ’20 took place from November 3rd to 5th 2020 in Rome, Italy. The consolidated aim of this series of International Conferences on Magnetism and Metallurgy is to bring together scientists from universities and research groups working on the development of magnetic materials, experts from the Industrial companies producing magnetic materials as well as electrical engineers from universities and industry, who are engaged in applications of magnetic materials.

As part of the Conference Programme, RINA gave the attendees a virtual tour around their laboratories. Besides, some other ReFreeDrive partners took part in the conference, with the following presentations:

  • High performance Synchronous Reluctance motor for electric vehicles: comparison between NGO and GO electrical steels. Presented by Marco Villani, University of L’Aquila.
  • Electrical steel and high torque density motors performances, role of lamination grade and thickness. Presented by Mircea Popescu, Motor Design Limited.
